Aims

  1. To raise the profile of music in all its forms and to foster a passion for music in all our citizens.
  2. To address the existing gaps in music education provision, and address gaps in access to music education through the formation of sustainable models based on co-operation, co-ordination and the sharing of resources by local providers
  3. To promote the use of music as a means of tackling social exclusion in line with the recommendations of Cork City Council’s report ‘Music as a tool for Social Inclusion’
  4. To extend the opportunities for music-making based on the principle of life-long learning to all communities in the City

Objectives

  1. To develop a sustainable partnership structure that will seek to deliver our vision and mission
  2. To conduct a mapping exercise that will establish a baseline of existing music learning activities in Cork City
  3. To develop a strategy that will target identified gaps in current music education provision and gaps in access to music education
  4. To identify existing and potential resources and opportunities to further the aims of the Cork Music Education Partnership
  5. To facilitate the development of innovative teaching, learning and assessment modes
  6. To identify existing models of good practice in performance music education delivery in Cork City
  7. To build capacity amongst local music education providers
