Féile Fearann Rí 2024

Féile Fearann Rí

We can’t wait for the return of this fantastic festival! Féile Fearann Rí takes place Tues 11th – Sat 15th June, and will fill Cork city’s northside with the sights and sounds of Irish traditional and folk music!

A highlight of the festival is the opportunity to welcome special guest artists in residence (through funding from the Music Generation national office) – last year we welcomed the incredible Liam O Maonlai, and this year we welcome four exceptional traditional artists – Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, Dónal O’Connor, Thomas McCarthy, and Niamh Dunne.

Festival events include:

  • Gala Concert Thurs 13th June at 7pm in the Church of the Resurrection, Farranree. Featuring local trad musicians of all ages alongside the wonderful Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and Dónal O Connor. Tickets are available for €10 on Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/feile-fearann-ri-gala-concert-with-muireann-nic-amhlaoibh-donal-oconnor-tickets-908156489507

  • A day-long celebration of Traveller culture in Irish traditional music, featuring the fantastic Thomas McCarthy, Niamh Dunne, local musicians, and young children from both Traveller and settled communities, collaborating and sharing music and stories throughout the day.

  • The festival’s final day is dedicated to youth music-making. Coinciding with Cruinniú na nÓg on Saturday 15thJune, the last day of the Féile features dozens of traditional music performances and an open youth session.

Féile Fearann Rí is presented by Creative Tradition, Music Generation Cork City, Musical Neighbourhoods, local schools, Farranree Parish, Cork City Libraries, and community groups like The Kabin Studio.
