‘Music Gives Me a Reason’: A FILM celebrating 10 years of Music Generation Cork City
As part of our 10th Birthday celebrations, we wanted to find a way to capture and share all of the magic of MGCC. With programmes in over 40 centres around the city, and a wide range of events, we had a lot of ground to cover – and what better way to do this than through the power of film!
We worked with local film-maker Seán Downey to create this short film, working on location to capture a slice of the action. The title of the film ‘Music Gives Me a Reason’ takes inspiration from the amazing song of the same name which was also commissioned for our 10th Birthday celebration – for more info on the song, see here.
About film-maker Seán Downey:
Seán Downey first attended rap workshops with GMCBeats as a teen. Now he is a freelance filmmaker and producer of The Two Norries Podcast. Seán recently produced a video for the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation with Garry McCarthy called ‘Leave No One Behind’ to mark Junior World Food Day 2022. A Film in 4 Parts
At our 10th birthday event in the Everyman, we screened the film in parts, and in between each part, live performances took place on stage. It was an incredible evening! For more on that, see here.
We have now released the film online in 4 parts (see all 4 videos below and on youtube).
Scroll down below videos for full film credits (which are also included at the end of film part 4).
