BOLD as BRASS was an exciting, large-scale promenade performance presented by Music Generation Cork City in partnership with the Arts Council and Cork Midsummer Festival which took place on June 21st 2015 at Elizabeth Fort – a wild journey through brass styles and traditions!
Composed and directed by JASON YARDE, for 100 brass, saxophone and percussion players, BOLD as BRASS was initially commissioned by Serious for premiere at the EFG London Jazz Festival in November 2013.
Rehearsals took place at Cork City Hall and CIT Cork School of Music in the months leading up to performance day.
BOLD as BRASS Cork 2015 featured the talents of the following professional musicians and mentors:
Roddy O’Keeffe (trombone), Robert O’Brien (tuba), Alex Petcu (percussion), Jason Yarde and Carolyn Goodwin (saxophones), Michael Mullins (trumpet) and Shauna McCullough (Artistic Director / trumpet), Adrian Hanly, Alice McCarthy, Claire Spillane, Jimmy Hynes, Ruairi Dineen, Mick Long, Rob O’Brien and Sebastian Schneider.
